Oxytocine Machine
The Oxytocine Machine is an art installation developed by Studio VRij and Zalán Szakács that uses virtual reality to facilitate intimate connections between people from diverse backgrounds and social bubbles. This installation, evolving from a pilot project at the Espronceda Institute of Arts & Culture in 2021, allows up to 12 participants from various locations to embark together on a shared virtual journey. Within this setup, two participants enter an inflatable cocoon equipped with VR headsets, creating a safe and intimate space to meet their virtual companion, potentially releasing oxytocin - the 'hormone of love'. This innovative approach offers individuals the chance to form unique bonds with people they would not meet otherwise.
